SIXTY people in Chikombedzi have come together to form the Shopping Complex Association to drive growth and development of Chikombedzi.
These gems pooled their resources and funds to build a 60 – outlet shopping complex at Chikombedzi growth point.
The construction has resumed, with foundation work currently on progress, and is slated to be completed within a year or less.
The mall will be named Chikombedzi Mall.
Ward 11 councillor Urombo Makolo confirmed that the council has purged stand number 453 for mall development purpose.
“A score of 60 gems have united to construct a shopping complex at Chikombedzi growth point. So far $30 000 has been raised and 1200 bags of cement have been bought to kick-start the project,” Makolo told this publication.
With this development, Makolo said the primary goal is to gain local board status and turn Chikombedzi into a better area for the future generation.
“The shopping complex is to us an achievement and will play a pivotal role in booming trade in our area,” Makolo added.
When asked about the project, Chiredzi South legislator Joel Sithole confirmed that the construction has begun and the mall will be completed within a year.
