Like an eagle renewed, the Great Limpopo Cultural Trade Fair [GLCTF] by the Mahlanga Trust is set to bounce back anew with a new name.
The GLCTF, founded under the Great Limpopo Transfontier Conservation Area [GLTCA], promotes biodiversity, sustainable tourism and cross-border collaboration in South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
lt was mute for years, during and even after Covid. But, during its hiatus, it has utilised its dormant period for reflection and transformation.
Having evolved, the GLCTF is rebranding as the Budula Festival, and it’s set to make a highly anticipated debut on June 21st, this year, at Boli-Mhlanguleni, Chiredzi in Zimbabwe.
One of the co-founders of the Mahlanga Trust, Hebert Phikela, announced the news of the return of the GLCTF, highlighting this year’s key activities: Xibelana Show and Community Merit Award.
Phikela promised that the GLCTF celebration will be remarkable, inviting people from far and wide. The GLCTF rebranding to the Budula Festival, according to Phikela, was a response to the need of repositioning and restructuring, seeking a captivating name that better suits its purpose.
“Budula”, a Tsonga/Shangani name meaning “corridor”, aptly represents the connection between the communities in South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, near the GLTCA, united through cultural conservation,” Phikela expressed.
