Poetry: That Letter In My Hand

By Kwanele Mntungwa

I had a letter in my hand,

Crafted with a bleeding ink.

With letters of my abdication..

The letter was a password,

A passport to a better country.

I viewed this country,

Smiling with tears of sorrow,

Perhaps l will miss it.

I heard the noise of squirrels and birds,

Irritating me with joyful sounds.

They will miss me as well.

The last camera for my departure,

Was this long top place of the mountain.

Suddenly,

An uninvited guest approached me,

Furiously and fascinating.

The illusion faded,

I vanished to the ground,

Appearing on the ground from the mountain,

With a Baptist mindset.

That black mamba

Saved my life!
