Poetry: I am no God

Definite Tennyson famously known as the Millennium Legend is the founder of Board of Poetry International.

He was born and raised in the City of Kings and Queens. He did his advanced level studies in Matobo. His love for history and literature has made him to become more of a revolutionary poet.

He started writing poems in 2010 with the help of his teacher. Tennyson says that his poems in counting have reached more than a thousand and he won’t stop till he gets his art to the right audience. His main aim is to create a platform for poets to engage.

In 2018 Deffy with the Board of Poetry, published a book titled “Whispers of Silence”. The year after, he co-authored a masterpiece with Cephas (Chitungwiza) and Gangaidzo (Harare) titled “What Say Ye” which was published on Amazon

Below is one of Definite’s poems

Trust me, its cold on the top.
where you always exalt me to be.
I am mere human like you,
I was cursed by this poetic witch,
who made me love metaphors,
Have a breakfast of punchlines,
A dinner plate full of hyperboles.
a dessert of imagery pies.
I know that alone makes me unique
but it doesn't make me immortal.
So don't make me your god.
I am just one with poetry.

I don't have friends
so I create my own through personification,
Each word to me is a living person.
the only way to be certain, I weigh
So to me, simile is the only way out.
Alone in my room, I can't have mood swings,
so I create the mood within each lines,
Breath life to the tasteless words.
Feed them to you with a taste of fine wine.
When you are lost within, I look for you with onomatopoeia.
That atmospheric low density I take you to,
Had made you crown me as your lord.
Don't plug that pride on me, I might crumble.

I have tried to find my own flow,
Sometimes got lost in the meter,
A theme shapeshifts in each stanza.
my wild mind trigger my ryhming gears,
I in turn recreate a speaker within the piece,
if you don't get it, I use repetition
Till you see an assonance within the lines.
Your smile will make me abandon Haiku,
To attempt Limerick then concrete.
I do find myself on sonnet but that doesn't work
Cause I like to narrate or do a free verse.
If I serve you a twisted recipe,
you marvel and bow down to me in worship.
I had dinner with goddess of poetry,
but I am no god, I am just me
Titling me will either over or underrate me.
So call me a Millennium Legend.

  1. I’m not sure why but this web site is loading incredibly slow for me.

Is anyone else having this issue or is it a problem on my end?

I’ll check back later and see if the problem still exists.

  2. It is actually a nice and useful piece of info.
I am happy that you shared this helpful info with us. Please stay us

  3. Wow that was unusual. I just wrote an extremely
long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t show up.
Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again. Anyhow,
just wanted to say great blog!

  4. Unquestionably believe that which you stated.
Your favorite justification appeared to be on the web the simplest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I definitely get annoyed at the same time as other folks think about
concerns that they just do not know about. You controlled to hit the
nail upon the highest and defined out the whole thing without
having side-effects , other people can take a signal. Will probably be back to get more.
    Thanks
