A multi-stakeholder approach to environmental conservation is critical for the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals on environmental issues. The church is also a vital cog in promoting the protection of the planet from degradation so that it can support the needs of the present and future generations; in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The wetlands essentially act as the kidneys of the landscape. They filter the water flowing into it by trapping suspended particles, absorbing carbon dioxide and nitrogen and releasing clean water to a landscape without any chemical used.

An environment devoid of wetlands is devoid of life. Imagine a forest without a pan for animals, aquatic organisms succumbing to the effects of the presence of a water hyacinth in Lake Chivero; and a water source for humans that is heavily polluted, that can be perilous. Both humanity and biodiversity survive on water, and wetlands are the natural repositories of water.
